
About Us


The Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) is a quasi-government institution that was established by an Act of Parliament—the Zimbabwe Youth Council Act [Chapter 25:19] as amended in 2001. The overall administration of the Act rests with the minister responsible for youth.It acts as an interface between young people and the government, as well as other stakeholders in the youth sector.
ZYC exists to promote youth participation by facilitating the registration and coordination of national youth associations in national development and decision-making processes. The Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) exists to promote the empowerment, development, and well-being of young people in Zimbabwe.

Advocate for youth rights: The ZYC serves as a voice for young people, advocating for their rights, interests, and concerns at local, national, and international levels.

Promote youth participation: The ZYC aims to increase youth participation in decision-making processes, governance, and development initiatives that affect their lives.

By fulfilling these roles, the Zimbabwe Youth Council plays a vital part in promoting the empowerment, development, and well-being of young people in Zimbabwe.

Support youth-led initiatives: The ZYC provides support and resources to youth-led initiatives, projects, and organizations, helping to amplify their impact and influence.

Foster national unity and cohesion: The ZYC promotes national unity and cohesion among young people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and regions, encouraging them to work together towards a common goal.

Address youth challenges: The ZYC addresses various challenges faced by young people, such as unemployment, poverty, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse, through targeted interventions and programs.

Empower youth through skills development: The ZYC provides training, mentorship, and capacity-building programs to equip young people with essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes for personal and professional growth.



• Subject to the directions of the Minister, the functions of the Council shall be


• To coordinate, supervise, and foster the activities of national associations and clubs;


• To ensure the proper administration of national associations and clubs.

• To participate in national and international youth activities
• To advise the government on the needs of youth; .
• With the approval of the Minister, to undertake projects designed to create employment for young people, including fundraising, marketing, and trading activities
