A Call to Action: Strengthening Our Youth Sector Through Unity, Accountability, and Collaboration It is my distinct honour and pleasure to welcome you all to our very first press conference as the newly reconstituted Zimbabwe Youth Council. This moment marks a significant milestone in our journey as young people of this great nation.in that regards we would like to appreciate greatly the efforts by The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa for this progressive development. The second Republic has demonstrated it’s unwavering commitment to Youth , not only through this gesture, but by appointing young people in key decision making positions in Government, for this we are grateful. To our valued Youth Associations, The Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) extends its heartfelt appreciation to all youth associations that continue to play a pivotal role in advancing national development through youth-led initiatives. Their dedication, innovation, and unwavering spirit remains the driving force behind the undeniable bright future for our country. As we continue to champion the empowerment of young people, we recognize and applaud the many efforts already made by associations in shaping a vibrant youth sector. However, to fully unlock the potential of youth organizations and enhance the effectiveness of our collective impact, it is essential that we support their efforts as they in turn align their operations with the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and good governance. In this regard, we are calling on all youth associations to visit the Zimbabwe Youth Council website or offices to update their operational status by the 25th of July 2025. To further support the associations the Council will host a series of workshops designed to unlock new opportunities and enhance their capacities and compliance. Compliance is not a burden—it is a step toward professionalism, recognition, and sustainability. By upholding these standards, as youth, we affirm our collective commitment to youth development and position ourselves as reliable partners in Zimbabwe’s transformation. We also encourage all stakeholders - government departments, NGOs, development partners, and the private sector to engage and support youth associations, thereby strengthening our shared mission. As we move forward, the ZYC is enhancing its systems to support youth better, and we call on all youth associations to embrace this renewed culture of accountability. Let us work together to build a credible, united, and responsive youth sector- a stronger, more transparent, and more empowered youth movement.
